Tricks for creating the chart in Excel
Our fastest chart ever! This chart is almost an exact copy of the chart on Value-added trade that appeared in our blog and that of the Economist on January 19 (see www.apptrac.net/en/blog/the-daily-graph/19-value-added-trade.html and www.economist.com/blogs/graphicdetail/2013 /01/focus-2, respectively). It shows the power of having a portfolio of re-usable charts: we copied the chart from January 19, added a single data series and fiddled a bit with the minimum and maximum values of the horizontal axis. Less than 5 minutes work for a "new" chart. Have a look at our post in the link above to read about the technicalities of creating the chart in Excel 2007.
